1. Behaviour of the excavation face:
- Correlation of the face compression with the tunnel depth and the geotechnical parameters (face stability diagrams). Estimation of the safety factor against face instability
- Calculation of the compression curve based on initial face extensometer measurements
- Prediction of geotechnical parameters in front of the excavation face based on compression measurements - Prediction of surface settlements in shallow tunnels based on compression measurements 

2. Loads on direct support
- Influence of face reinforcement on direct support loads 

3. Loads on the final lining
- Loads on the final lining through three-dimensional analyses: assessment of the influence of load transfer from direct support and creep of the surrounding geomaterial.
- Stochastic analysis of loads and design of reinforced and unreinforced final linings
